A rain garden could convert your yard to reduce pollution, help control storm water runoff, recharge our aquifers, and provide food for pollinators and birds. Visit several such gardens during the Winona Rain Garden Tour Saturday July 30th, from 9AM to Noon, and see how. The event is free and designed to showcase the winners of the 2015 Winona Residential rain garden cost sharing grants.
Visit http://winonaraingardens2016.weebly.com/ to find a list of rain gardens open for viewing, and stop by during the hours of the tour. The gardens are all in Winona at 709 Grand Street, 1530 Gilmore Valley Road, 260 Liberty Street, 290 Prairie Island Road, 765 Menard Street, and 201 Main Street. Watch for rain garden signs at each location. The gardeners will be on hand to talk to you about design and function, and a limited number of free rain garden plants will be given away at the sites.
