On May 19th five 7th grade science classes at the Winona Middle School took shifts pulling out leafy spurge, and extremely invasive non-native plant species that has begun to dominate segments of the Lake Winona shoreline. Led by science teachers Trisha Johnson and John Weaver, classes were bussed to Lake Winona where the students learned first hand the damage that invasive species can do to an ecosystem, and then played a part in restoring the damage.
