Storm Water Campaign - We are planning an "Adopt a storm drain" program along with a storm drain marking/stenciling initiative.
Winona Rain Gardens 2015 - The City of Winona has adopted a residential rain garden program with up to $1500 in grants to encourage people to put in rain gardens.
Invasive Species Management The cleanup of invasives along the shoreline of Lake Winona is one of the ways Healthy Lake Winona Members are working to provide the Winona Community with information on what can be done to improve the quality of Lake Winona. On May 19th five 7th grade science classes from the Winona Middle School took shifts pulling out leafy spurge at Lake Winona.
Lake Management Practices - This program will include buffers and plantings for pollinators, and additional water testing.
Potential Long-Term Improvements - Some preliminary reporting from the MN PCA indicates impairments of Lake Winona in the are of phosphorus and turbidity. As these reports become publicly available, we will be investigating additional retention, dredging, work with the City of Winona on grants and other sources of funding.
